Hi, bloggers in Tora hud on Tuesday we did art all day. In the morning we painted some birds. In the afternoon we made 3d stands. This was my outcome. I chose tui for my bird.

Hi bloggers. In lockdown, we have been learning about people who make a stand and are famous. Malala is a lady who brought back education for girls in Afghanistan. What do you think you could do to make a stand in the world? If I were to make a stand, I would make the world stop polluting the ocean. 

 

Hi, bloggers in lockdown we had to do something for our inquiry which is about water. We had a selection of different tasks we could do, I chose to build a city in Minecraft. I am not quite done as you can yet as you can see. we also had to build waterways. What do you think we are doing to our ocean at the moment? and how do you think we could help stop terible things from happening to the ocean?

Matariki kite art

 On the 2 July, we celebrated the Māori New Year, a time to consider the year ahead. The days are starting to lengthen and spring will soon be here, we just need to get through this cold winter first! 

Matariki and the Pleiades star cluster, have got many stories attached to them. We looked at two; one about how Ranginui and Papatuanuku were separated by Tāne Mahuta, and how Tāwhirimatea was so angry he ripped out his eyes and threw thunderbolts to the sky, creating the cluster, and another story about 7 sisters making kites, and them going to the sky. Ururangi’s kite was different from the rest, it was rainbow-colored. We have mixed these two stories to create the design of our kites.

My kite has Tawhirimatea and the wind represented with the clouds. I then colored it in like a rainbow.

Last week we had to choose an animal that we would record saying on slides using mote. Our task was to get some info of the internet and then we had record saying it. I liked learning about sea lions but it was also sad how there are not so many left in the world. Do you like sea lions? 

Steam challenge

 

Hi bloggers in Toroa we learnt a little bit about steam. We had a challenge to make something that will stop a egg from cracking. We put a mini plastic bag on top of a little paper holder that contained the one and only egg we had. Have you dropped an egg.

Robot angles

 

Hi bloggers in Toroa we have been learning about angles. the angles weave learnt are acute, obtuse, right, Straight and reflex angles. Our task was to go onto google drawing and make a robot out of angles. Then we would share it to Mrs Osborn and she would pint it out. After that we had to write down 8 angles. I liked making that robot. do you robots?

 

Hi bloggers in literacy we have been learning about chimpanzees. We learnt that Chimpanzees are being poached for there meat and killing the mother the baby. Then selling the baby's. We also know that they are critically endangered and humans are putting various in chimpanzees for tests. Our task was to build a chimpanzee sanctuary  on minecraft education.  In my minecraft world I but jungle trees, a little forest, bamboo forest, exasize and bird eggs(turtle eggs). It was really interesting to learn about Chimpanzees. The most interesting part is that they hunt monkeys for food. I got all of my inermentation of epic and we watched baby chimp rescue on tvnz on domand. How would you stop them from being endangerd?

Angels on a letter

For numeracy today, we have started to learn about angles.  

We learnt about 3 different angles today - acute (less than 90°), right angle (90°), and obtuse (larger than 90° but smaller than 180°).  We also learnt how to use a protractor to measure angles.  We know that we need to measure an angle from a vertice (a corner where two straight lines meet).

For our create task, we had to measure three different angles on the first letter of our name - can you  figure out if they are acute, right angle or obtuse?

Hi blogger in literacy with miss Osborn we have been learning about the anzac cove landing for our task we had to write down all the things they did in the landing and what things they had. what wouldyou do the war.

Hi bloggers in Toroa we have been learning about Maori weather. We went on Scratch and made an animation on Maori weather. The weather I chose was rain. We had to say in Maori what is the weather, Then we had say the is (anything) . I think scratch is a fun app I think you should try it.   

storyboard that about Refugee

or literacy we have been reading Refugee by Alan Gratz.   We looked at the main character, and picked 3 words to describe them.  I picked brave, lucky and scared.

For our create task, we had to use Storyboard that, and pick one of our describing words to storyboard.  We needed to think about what happened just before that scene, and just after and how we could show emotion in our characters face.

I decided to to use scared.   I showed this through the part of chapter 3 when Mahmouds apartment gets airstrike d.

Anzac Cove landing by the ANZACS

 

In literacy at the moment we are learning about WW1 and in particular, the role the ANZACS played in it.

We know that the ANZACS landed at ANZAC cove on April 25th, 1915.  They arrived by boat, and were greeted by a beach that was in chaos, steep, rugged cliffs and the Turks firing at them from the top of the cliffs.

Many men lost their lives that day, many never made it to the beach.  The ones that did were about to start a long journey filled with tears, despair and sadness.

Minecraft Education Refugee camp

 

Over the past three weeks in literacy, we have been reading about refugees and looking at what refugee camps look like.  

Do you know that there are millions of refugees currently living in refugee camps all over the world.  These people have had to flee their home countries due to war, unrest, famine, riots, terrorist attacks and more.  Some have been living in these camps for years, with no sign of leaving.

The conditions are terrible.  There are lots of disease, crowded living areas, they are hot in summer and freezing in winter.

Our task was to recreate a refugee camp in Minecraft education, incorporating all the things we had learnt about them.

Have you ever read or watched anything about refugees before?

 Hi bloggers In class today we did KOS ending comic. In the comic 2 boys are being bullied while there playing Basket ball. I ended the comic with 1 of the boys is helping his friend up. What would you do if you were getting bullied?

Hi bloggers in class we drew lego people that look like you when its the weekend or time at home. I drew a fishing and hunting t-shirt because I really like to fish and the small little fish that I drew just above where it said hunting and fishing that was the first ever fish I caught and I drew a random hat. the fish on the top left is called a Gurnard that my dad and his mates caught. do like fishing or not

Hi bloggers when we came back from camp we each had to write what our favourite thing at camp was. My favourite thing was the kayaking because it was merkey water and I thought we would see some fish and I had to teach jacko how to kayak because he was the only person in my kayak
